Motor Equipment Operator III

The City of Virginia Beach is hiring a Motor Equipment Operator to safely operate and perform preventative maintenance on one or more types of medium to heavy duty motorized equipment, which may include, but not limited to a backhoe, front-end loader, single/tandem axle dump trucks, snowplow, trailers in the maintenance and construction of roads, sidewalks and curb and gutter.

Duties may include:

• Perform labor work such as lifting various material and supplies from 50-100lbs
• Able to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
• Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements

Must possess a Commercial Driver's License - Class A (VA or NC)

• CDL Hiring Bonus - The $4,000 CDL (Class A or B) Hiring Bonus is for newly hired employees only.

The bonus will be paid in three increments during the first year of employment.

• $1,000 with first paycheck
• $1,000 first pay period following six-month interim eval (with "meets expectation" performance rating)
• $2,000 at conclusion of probationary period (with "meets expectation" performance rating)

A Pre-employment Physical is required (Psition is designated as a safety sensitive position and subject to mandatory drug testing).

This position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes & snow, etc.).
