Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to Lead. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Plan the use of equipment and materials; enforce deadlines and priorities; answer questions and provide technical guidance; ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed; operate a variety of motor vehicles; issue, receive and account for equipment. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 Pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Subject to working out-of-doors during periods of inclement weather. Exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions.

Duties
- Operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment to prevent damage and corrosion of parts.
- Ensure needed plans, materials and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
- Utilize forklift trucks to load heavy equipment on to trailers.
- Assign tasks to crewmembers based on knowledge, skill, and abilities.
- Answer questions from workers about tasks to be performed.
- Pass instructions from supervisor onto subordinates.
- Recognize hazardous conditions while driving to avoid damage or injury.
- Ensure safety and housekeeping rules for operating vehicles and equipment are followed.
- Demonstrate proper dispatching procedures, preventive maintenance checks and services, and document deficiencies.
- Determine size of truck and trailer required to safely carry the equipment to be moved.
- Select proper tools and interpret information in appropriate manuals/regulations to perform maintenance checks on vehicles.
- Instruct and assist lower graded operators in the more difficult and complex tasks.
- Check work in progress for compliance with instructions.
- Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work.
- Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.

- THIS POSITION REQUIRES ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP AS A SOLDIER IN THE U.S. ARMY RESERVE (USAR).
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
