In this position you will exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing vehicle operations trades and labor work in the Transportation System in support of AFFTC organizations and tenant units.

  • Tracks reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust work assignments and to use overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps processes.
  • Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and recommends them to supervisors.   • Ensure education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. Incumbent inspects dispatch operations and support to ensure effective and efficient motor vehicles scheduling.
  • Dispatches and/or schedules vehicles (general and special purpose) used for the transportation of passengers,

    equipment, or supplies.
  • Drives tractor trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds, operates one or

    more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks and drives one or more types of passenger buses which carry

    16 or more passengers.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operations Family located here.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
