Duties Description The Trucking Department at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full-time Motor Vehicle Operator position, Grade 07.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Description of Responsibilities:
Operational Needs:
• Record of dependability
• Physically able to perform the duties of the position
• Ability to understand, carry out and give both verbal and written directions
• Knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of the vehicle
• Knowledge of the nature of cargo carried and any special handling required
• Ability in the operation of motor vehicles as required
• Ability to safely lift and carry crates, cartons, boxes, and other cargo of varying weight onto and off of transport vehicles
• Takes recyclables (metal, confidential documents, etc.) to county facilities; occasionally asked to make out-of-town deliveries (e.g. Metro Center campus).
• Makes campus deliveries of supplies, equipment, and furniture.
• Pallet jack and forklift operation is required (training provided if necessary)
• CDL license is required for this position
Job Duties:
• Knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of vehicles operated.
• Knowledge of the nature of cargo carried and any special handling required.
• Knowledge of simple automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to physically operate assigned vehicles as required.
• Ability to lift and carry crates, cartons, boxes, and other cargo onto and off of transport vehicles.
• Drives a variety of motor vehicles both on and off State property in order to transport people, material, and equipment as required, and plow snow from roadways and parking lots.
o May map routes, itineraries, and points of call.
o Moves or carries cargo onto, into, off of, or out of the vehicle operated.
o Moves or carries cargo from the vehicle to the delivery or storage point.
o Posts manifests, inventories, and other records of goods and people transported.
• Tends to the routine maintenance of vehicles operated in order to ensure that cargo is moved as required.
o Changes oil and spark plugs.
o Changes tires and washes vehicles.
o Pumps gas and adds water to radiator, oil to crankcase, and air to the tires.
o Replaces lamp bulbs.
• May operate and maintain motorized equipment in support of maintenance, grounds or building trades crews.
