UPMC Children's Hospital is hiring a full-time MRI Technologist/MRI Technologist Advanced to join their MRI team!

We are now offering a $15,000 sign-on bonus for eligible hires for a 2-year work commitment!

UPMC's brand new Monthly Loan Repayment Program, exclusively for December 2023 or later graduates, offers $9,000 in loan repayment paid over three years!

The MRI Technologist will work three 12-hour shifts, with flexibility available regarding start times! Shifts will include a rotation of day and evening/night hours, as well as a weekend and holiday rotation. Details will be discussed further in interviews!

The MRI Technologist performs imaging procedures at an advanced level, not requiring constant supervision. This role competently performs a variety of advanced technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:
  • Practices and maintains MR safety in the department.
  • Maintains clinical competency for all exams and equipment.
  • Performs procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving.
  • Prior to start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol.
  • Identifies all patients properly by using two patient identifiers and utilizes universal protocol when performing procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and assesses physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in the acquisition of data, including the labeling, preparation, and administration of contrast.
  • Documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Able to work as team member within the department and all other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner and explains procedures to help allay the patient's fears and solicit their cooperation.
  • Ensures all exams within his/her area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through RIS system, all patient information is updated and documented in Rad Assessment, all exams are properly networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.


Qualifications:

MRI Technologist ($30.27 start rate) :
  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.
  • Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date.

MRI Technologist Advanced ($32.39 start rate):
  • Completion of formal training in MRI-related program accredited by the ARRT or ARMRIT.
  • 2 years of MRI experience required.
  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Must obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire date. CPR or BLS Required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
    • Advanced: ARRT MR or ARMRIT Certified.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting

  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
