Job Description Summary
This entry level position is to become proficient in quality casting, splinting services and providing patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice setting. The ambulatory cast tech I performs multi-skilled activities to support decentralized patient centered care to achieve desired outcomes. May be required to provide back-up support for other locations.

Job Description
  • Independently performs and documents a variety of clinical procedures according to policy and procedures.
  • Provides safe and effective care to patients and families. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, and employees.
  • Utilizes appropriate communication/documentation tools and devices in providing patient care and documenting appropriate information in the patient record.
  • Identify patients and collect specimens as ordered. Follows policy and procedure for task performance and documentation.
  • Perform clerical duties and ensure overall financial well-being of the clinic operations.

Required Minimum Training and Education: Requirements include one of the following: High school diploma, GED.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Required: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire. Expectation to complete certification for ASOP Orthopedic Tech within one year of hire.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see, and recognize objects nearby and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs. (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs. of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
