The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
The Music Education Coordinator will co-facilitate two parent/child prevention groups and one elementary school-based group per week using the CARING prevention model for preschool and elementary school. The CARING prevention model approach is psychoeducation through the creative arts. Group participants engage in musical activities that address socialization, emotional communication and problem solving. Each group will be offered weekly for 15 weeks during the Fall and 15 weeks during the Spring semesters for a total of 30 weeks/year. The music education coordinator is responsible for structuring the child prevention sessions based on the CARING prevention manuals. They will maintain all data such as attendance, taking notes on participant engagement, and obtaining consents. Weekly notes and weekly supervision with CARING's Project Coordinator will be part of 15 -hour weekly schedule.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with co-leader to facilitate and plan weekly group sessions for prevention groups following the models outlined in both the CARING parent child manual and elementary school-manual.
- Maintain knowledge in prevention models used during groups and attend weekly meetings with on-site coordinators for general operational procedures. Ensuring that CARING's inclusion and exclusion criteria is followed for referrals.
- Distribute, collect and maintain data including attendance, consent forms and outcome measures for all participants in the CARING groups in accordance with operational guidelines.
- Complete weekly written progress notes for each group to be reviewed during weekly supervision with project coordinator.
- Refer and follow-up with partnership site coordinator on all group participants who exhibit the need for further assessment. Update records to reflect referrals as needed.
- Complete all necessary trainings and attend meetings for CARING Program.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree; plus, threeyears of related experience in early childhood work.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; the ability to work independently and collaboratively; the ability to participate in group work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters degree.
- Spanish Fluency is a plus.
