The Mutual Fund Tax Analyst provides leadership, oversight, and accountability for tax items and ensures compliance with statutory and regulatory tax requirements. This role protects investment products from financial loss and liability and develops strategic relationships with key internal and external partners and serves as serve as a Mutual Fund Tax expert for the business.

The Mutual Fund Tax Analyst:
  • Provides strategic and technical tax support, develops recommendations to minimize tax risk for the funds and shareholders. Develops and implements tax reporting and accounting policies.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on complex tax compliance matters, and as the global process owner.
  • Manages preparation, review, and consultative services for tax compliance.
  • Performs independent analysis of complex tax issues. Recommends solutions and improvements to senior management and internal partners.
  • Monitors for legislative and regulatory developments to ensure compliance with domestic and international taxation, tax laws, and regulations affecting global investments of Vanguard products. Attends industry and vendor conferences to stay abreast of changes and industry impact.
  • Partners with the business in designing and developing new products and evaluating new instruments.
  • Contributes to the development and growth of less experience crew members, provides technical guidance and on-the-job training as needed.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it takes:
  • Minimum of five years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Accounting or Finance degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Tax or Accounting and/or Lending experience preferred
