Summary

This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Division, Fleet & Family Readiness Department, Naval Air Station, Lemoore, California. The purpose of this position is to provide maximum availability of the Bowling center to a wide variety of Military personnel, dependents, retired personnel, authorized Department of Defense (DOD) civilians and contract personnel.

Duties

  • Plans, develops, organizes, coordinates and administers the day-to-day and continuing operations of the Bowling Center which include bowling and food service.
  • Actively promotes and organizes bowling programs through leagues, special tournaments, and special bowling classes.
  • Oversees/Supervises to ensure daily maintenance of the Bowling Center equipment is performed to ensure that all equipment is in proper operating and safety condition.
  • Supervises Bowling Pro Shop, orders resale supplies, maintains an inventory.
  • Supervises and coordinates the sale of food items and the preparation and sale of short order food items. Ensure the proper preparation, display, and price marking of food items and adherence to correct receipt and pricing procedures.
  • Prepares and justifies non-appropriated and appropriated annual operating budgets for the Bowling Center and request acquisitions of items to maintain, improve, expand or enhance the Bowling Center Operations. Responsible for a needs assessment of the population served and should include payroll, equipment, training and other requirements necessary to operate the facilities in an efficient manner.
  • Supervises approximately 11 NAF employees. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for compilation of work.
  • Identifies developmental and training needs of employees. Provides or arranges for needed development or training.
  • Interviews candidates for positions within the Bowling Center, recommends appointment, promotion or reassignment to such positions.
  • Hears and resolves complaints from employees, referring group grievances and more serious unresolves complaints to higher level supervisor.
  • Implements general and specific provisiions designed to assure that policies to achieve management objectives in such areas as employee management, relations, and equal opportunity for all persons, to prohibit discrimination in employment, development, advancement and treatment becasue of race, color, religion, sex or national origin.

  • This position requires standing, walking, bending and carrying items up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires irregular working hours such as nights, holidays and weekends.


Qualifications

  • A professional knowledge of Bowling Center operations and ability to promote bowling and knowledge of ABC, WIBC, YABA bowling regulations.
  • Skill in effectively managing the financial and physical resources associated with the Center's operation.
  • Poses a thorough working knowledge of procedures, techniques and financial responsibilities related to the daily administration of the Bowling Center.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to interpret and adapt all applicable policies, regulations, and oral or written instruction in developing procedures, steps and methods to accomplish objectives.
