Job Function: The NCAA Championships Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Action Team (CEAT) aims to create change in collegiate athletics on a micro-level through exposure to championship business and operations for minority and under-resourced individuals. Job Responsibilities: 1-on-1 mentoring opportunity between the students participating in the program and a member of the NCAA internal working group at select championships during the regular and championship season.
  • Collaborate with the championship manager during the regular season as schedules permit including but not limited to virtual meetings with the internal team, host planning calls, evaluation calls, and other related calls with the purpose of observation and learning the inner workings of championship administration. If time allows, the selected students may assist in functional areas and oversee specific tasks assigned by the championship manager.
  • Attend the championships as a member of the NCAA championship staff (expenses covered by the NCAA).
    • Rotational work directly with various NCAA staff members for exposure to different functional areas (e.g., operations, corporate relations, social/digital media, etc.) while on site.
  • Post event, the mentee will brief their mentor on their experience and provide a report out of suggested changes specifically focused on EDI for possible consideration for inclusion in upcoming championship events.
Job Requirements:
  • Current college student at local institution (college students enrolled in a member institution in the state of the respective championship are strongly encouraged to apply).
  • Minority college students are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong desire to work in sports or event management.
  • Willingness to learn and gain initial hands-on experience running national championship sporting events.
  • Preferred involvement within their institution's athletic department.
  • Provide one character letter of recommendation (supervisor, professor, coach, etc.)
