An employer in Downtown Houston, Texas is looking for a Network Design Lead. This person will be responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of Internet Protocol (IP) voice, IP video and wireless data services. The candidate must have hands on experience with installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication links. The day to day will consist of configuring networks to ensure their connectivity so there is a smooth and reliable operation to fulfill business objectives and processes. This person will also be responsible for analyzing current network infrastructure to plan and oversee upgrades or enhancements. This position requires extensive knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to partner with different groups and individuals on the team.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience working in computer or service provider networking (think Verizon or AT&T)
Programing or scripting experience to help automate processes. (Python, Pearl, c++, Powershell)
In depth knowledge of routing protocols
Hands on experience with troubleshooting and maintaining software and hardware related issues
Strong knowledge and experience with Juniper Networks or Cisco Systems (Juniper is preferred)
Experience with network administration and testing tools (Telnet, Ping, Trace Route, NSLookup)
Hands on experience with configuring networks
Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Windows 7/10 Operating Systems
Strong written and verbal communication

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Strong experience with firewalls
Juniper Networks certification(s) at the Expert level (JNCIE-ENT, JNCIE-SP).
Cisco Systems certification(s) at the "Professional" level (CCDP, CCNP, CCSP, CCVP)
Cisco Systems certification(s) at the Expert level (CCIE)
