Mission: Our engineers are committed to developing and delivering emerging, robust, field-deployable technologies to critical programs within the federal law enforcement community. This team will be working side-by-side with Government managers who are focused on developing and deploying state-of-the-art investigative technological tools that support our intelligence and investigative priorities to combat counterterrorism, counterintelligence, cyber, and criminal activities.

Location/Flexibility: Ft. Belvoir, VA

Responsibilities: As part of a team of Network, System, and Software Engineers supporting a National Law Enforcement mission, the Network Engineer shall provide technical leadership in the planning, investigation, design, and implementation of physical and logical communications solutions having network-wide impact and shall be responsible for the overall integration of service delivery arrangements involving Local Area Networks (LANs), Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), and Wide-Area Networks (WANs) including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of agency LAN/MAN/WAN interfaces with the customer's telecommunications service providers. The Network Engineer supports cloud infrastructure DevSecOps and services, with data flows crossing various controlled interfaces, and will follow specific IT project management and engineering life-cycle processes. This position will support solutions throughout the IT project lifecycle, to include refining requirements, creating design documentation, and providing O&M and troubleshooting support.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Recommend network design enhancements to improve cloud services and on premises systems availability and functionality.
  • Manage and monitor bandwidth and network asset conditions and utilization.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of LAN/WAN using switch and router technology.
  • Assess hardware and software functionality and suitability within the existing network environment.
  • Utilize network analysis tools to identify and mitigate performance problems in the network.
  • Monitor services with log aggregations, automated analysis, reporting, and alerting in support of incident detection and response.
  • Ensure that systems adhere to security compliance and best practices.
  • Manage access controls.


Required Qualifications:
  • Active Clearance: TS/SCI
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer and Information Security, Computer Security, and/or Network Administration or Master's Degree in Computer Science or related scientific/technical field.
  • 8 years of experience designing, architecting and supporting both Cisco and Linux routing enterprise systems.
  • 5 years of experience planning, designing, and analyzing LANs, overseeing the implementation and test/troubleshooting activities, reviewing, and approving changes/modifications to the design and implementation, documenting the installed system, and recommending and operating the network management and control systems to maintain the LAN hardware and software.
  • Experience with operating systems and protocols such as Cisco I 05 and NX-05, Linux routing technologies, Open Shortest Path Frist (OSPF)/Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), and VMWare Virtualization.
  • Ability to utilize network analysis tools to resolve routine network performance problems.
  • Working knowledge of the theory and practice underlying LAN/WAN network operations
  • Prior experience with experience with Cat5, Cat6, Fiber, Network Switches, and patch panels
  • Experience with project and task planning to include scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify, mitigate, and/or solve network challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead working groups, negotiate, and create consensus.
  • Ability to draft requirements documents, correspondence, and procedures in accordance with policies.
  • MS Office suite proficiency, to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to provide clear, accurate, and simple explanations of technical procedures and processes to audiences of varying degrees of technical proficiency.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent level of certification

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds at times.
