Position Description:
  • The Global Wide Area Network (WAN) planning team is responsible for the design and deployment planning of next-generation large-scale WAN implementations within the client's global network.
  • The team implements innovative global enterprise scale network products and technologies from several vendors, and also works with transport providers to select best-in-class transport offerings.
  • While modernizing the global network, the team also supports the existing WAN environment.
  • In addition to technical acumen, this position requires good written and verbal communication skills, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change.

Skills Required:
  • The WAN Intranet Planning Team addresses the hardware and routing needs of the global network, which requires proficiency with the following:
    • Routing protocols: BGP & OSPF.
    • Technologies: WAN connectivity (long-haul Ethernet), legacy routing & switching, SD-WAN, cloud platforms, colocation offerings, data center networking, IPSec.
    • Cisco mid to upper range router product line.
    • Cisco IOS-XE & IOS-XR.
  • The Planner will have responsibilities to plan and work with other teams to implement WAN solutions across the entire global network, interfacing with other SMEs, internal customers, other IT teams, and management.
  • Fluency with TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing/subnetting, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to plan, time-budget, and self-pace to meet challenging timelines.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio).
  • Ability to occasionally work on weekends due to global network change windows being on weekends.

Skills Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or IT discipline.
  • Experience with SASE offerings by Palo Alto & other vendors.
  • Knowledge of IPv6.
  • Familiarity with SD-LAN / ACI, LAN technologies, WiFi.
  • Familiarity with Extranet technologies & commonly used vendors/equipment.
  • Cisco CCNA/CCDA or Cisco CCNP/CCDP preferred, or other related technical certifications.
  • MPLS, DWDM, Cisco NCS.
  • Experience with Python scripting / DevOps.

Experience Required:
  • At least 5 years of hands-on large enterprise networking experience.

Education Required:
  • High school diploma interested in technical knowledge & proficiency than a college degree.

Education Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or IT discipline.
  • Networking certification.
