Job Goal/ Summary: To assist the Network Specialist (Network Administrator) in essential duties to ensure the stability and integrity of the corporate network environment by providing day-to-day support and maintenance of the corporate network and server infrastructure including but not limited to all servers and all platforms, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.

Qualifications:
  1. Must have an Associate's degree and three (3) year's in a computer related field
  2. Valid driver's license, required
  3. Cisco CCNA or Network+ Certification (preferred)
  4. Cisco wired and wireless networking
  5. Network Security (firewalls, antivirus, network access control, etc.)
  6. DNS and DHCP server
  7. experience
  8. Strong Organizational Skills
  9. Familiarity with Windows and Apple based products
  10. Active Directory and Group Policy experience

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Coordinator of Technology

Background Check Required: (HB 402 ACT 99-361 Alabama Legislature) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Configuring, installation, maintenance, and diagnostics of LAN/WAN networks (such as: routers, smart switches, and firewalls)
  2. Assist in securing the district, schools and their resources against security threats including but not limited to cyberthreats, ransomware, malware, phishing, etc.
  3. Understand and have expertise in network switching/routing and TCP/IP
  4. Palo Alto Network maintenance and upgrades
  5. Virtualization technologies VMware ESXi, vCenter/vSphere, Horizon View and Veeam
  6. VoIP telephone configuring, installation, maintenance and diagnostics
  7. Ability to work with network storage in various forms including SAN and NAS
  8. Assisting with servers and network appliances and their associated backups
  9. Printers, copiers, print servers
  10. In depth knowledge of Windows client systems
  11. Windows scripting (Batch Files, vbscript, powershell)
  12. Ability to work with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy
  13. Document troubleshooting and resolution actions
  14. Desire to research and train for new technologies
  15. Ability to work effectively and positively with others
  16. Ability to lift and install network/computer equipment that sometimes exceeds 50 lbs.
  • This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.


Expected Employment: 240 days (full year)

Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

Salary Range: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
