JOB TITLE: Network & Security Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Degree in data communications, computer science or related work
experience and/ or industry certification.
2. Must meet background clearance as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of
Education regulations.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implements and maintains technology initiatives.
2. Provides assistance in the application of technology in all areas related to the district.
3. Assists the administration and teachers in the learning of software within the district.
4. Assists in installing software and hardware in all schools and the Central Office.
5. Supervise the maintenance of all technology equipment.
6. Provide technical support, network management, and disaster recovery for all schools
and the Central Office.
7. Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions
and other operational difficulties.
8. Configure, maintain, and manage network security, Including but not limited to, physical
security, anti-virus, spam filters, Internet filtering, wireless connectivity, and VPN access.
9. Maintains and updates technical documentation.
10. Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with
Board Members, the Superintendent, the Technology Coordinator, administrators,
certificated and non-certificated personnel, parents and students.
11. Performs other assigned duties as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Effective oral and written communication skills.
2. Positive interpersonal skills with strong leadership skills and experience in training
others.
3. Extensive knowledge of contemporary technology hardware and software as it pertains
to school applications.
4. Ability to use personal computers and network technology to perform needed tasks.
5. Self-motivated, capable of working with limited supervision, proactive in reporting on
status and tasks.
6. Excellent computer skills with experience in coordinating and implementing educational
programs utilizing technology.
7. Knowledge of local, state, and federal mandates related to school technology.
8. Ability to use effective interpersonal and collaborative skills necessary for the successful
implementation of programs, the coordination of committees, and to maintain productive
relationships among colleagues and those supervised.
9. Knowledge of Board policies and procedures.
10. Mobility and visual acuity to make on-site visits to schools to improve the implementation
of technology.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved
compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by
the system.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the
Board's policy on the evaluation of personnel
