Position Description:

The Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) seeks an Autonomic Disorders specialist for a faculty position at the Assistant to Full Professor to participate in the Autonomic Laboratory and the Autonomic Disorders Program (ADP). Join MCW in transforming health care and connecting people to the best of academic medicine for the exceptional care that we provide to the diverse communities in the greater Milwaukee, Wisconsin region.

The Department of Neurology is the largest and most comprehensive neurology academic group in Wisconsin, with a faculty exceeding 75, including more than 60 adult neurologists and neuropsychologists. There are more than 12 Child Neurology faculty who practice at the adjacent children's hospital, and there is a nearby affiliated VA Hospital. The adult faculty see a wide range of local and regional patient referrals in a new outpatient clinic, including new autonomic and clinical neurophysiology laboratories. There are currently 2 faculty practicing part-time in the ADP currently.

Neurology has a robust educational program of 27 adult neurology residents, 6 child neurology residents, in addition to 9 fellowships. Faculty also do basic and clinical research with an aggregate budget of more than $5M dollars. The Neurology Department is a primary partner in MCW's newly initiated and funded Neuroscience Institute.

Opportunity
  • Evaluate/manage patients with neurological, particularly autonomic disorders.
  • The ADP is over 20 years old and is affiliated with the Neuromuscular Diseases Program.
  • The ADP has a large outpatient clinic practice and state-of-the-art autonomic testing lab.
  • There is also opportunity for seeing pediatric patients and doing testing at the autonomic laboratory at Children's Hospital.
  • Research offers collaboration with colleagues in both clinical & basic science departments.
  • Education includes teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Participation in the Neuromuscular Diseases Conferences and related educational activities.


Education, training, and experience required
  • Board Certified in Adult Neurology (ABPN) or Internal Medicine.
  • A one-year UCNS Fellowship in Autonomic Disorders (or equivalent). Additional Fellowship training in Clinical Neurophysiology or Neuromuscular Medicine highly desired.
  • Wisconsin licensure or eligible for licensure.
  • Excellent clinical, research, and teaching abilities and experience commensurate with level of training and experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical skills in diagnosing and managing autonomic patients.
  • Demonstrated excellence in management of clinical duties, including time efficiency in clinic, closure of clinic encounters, and commitment to achieving high CG-CAHPS scores.
  • Option for limited protected research time may be possible as a pre-requisite to funding
  • Successful candidates bring strong clinical abilities, well-refined interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to MCW's academic missions.
