HDR is seeking a strong Area Business Group Manager to lead and grow our Building Engineering Services (BES) Group in the New England market.

Primary Responsibilities

The BES Area Business Group Manager will be providing broad engineering, consulting, planning and program management services to a strong client base in the New England area and beyond. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the business and continue to diversify the client base. In addition, the position will also oversee building engineering project delivery in the New England area.

The group provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings in the Datacenter, Infrastructure, Transportation, Science and Healthcare markets along with a variety of regional and global project types in the Federal space. In addition to managing the building engineering project delivery team, this position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the business and continue to diversify the client base. The chosen candidate will be responsible for implementation of a business plan that is focused on responsible and smart growth opportunities over the next 5 years.

Responsibilities also include leading strategic client and project pursuits, managing projects, providing technical services, staff administration, marketing, overseeing quality of deliverables, and supervising and mentoring staff. The group leader prepares annual revenue forecasts and budgets, monitors performance of the business group, and develops and wins projects that match the expertise and developmental goals of the staff. This position works closely and cooperatively with all of HDR's current Business Groups and National Directors and coordinates services with business lines in the company that require building engineering design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or closely related Engineering degree is strongly preferred
  • PE preferred
  • A minimum of 20 years experience in building engineering, project delivery and planning strongly preferred.
  • Strong New England client connections preferred
  • A positive professional reputation as one who can deliver quality, cost effective projects in the New England market is needed.
  • Self-starter; strong communication and people skills.
  • Excellent marketing experience.
  • Success in initiating and managing growth.
  • Prior consulting experience preferred.
  • Must be committed to quality and improvement and promoting HDR's values.
  • Preference given to local candidates


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field
  • A minimum of 10 years experience
  • Maintains a professional or engineering registration and has related technical experience
  • Demonstrated experience with leading diverse teams
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
