Overview

As a Chick-fil-A Supply Non-CDL Driver, you will accurately and safely deliver products to Chick-fil-A restaurants in a timely manner while building strong relationships with internal and external customers. You are a safe, collaborative, and professional driver who follows all company policies, laws, and regulations regarding commercial drivers. In this role, based at the Distribution Center (DC) in San Antonio, TX, you will report to the transportation supervisor and help support continued innovation at an operation like no other in the food service industry.

Schedule:
  • Sunday through Friday, start time between 5p.m. to 12a.m. until the work is done.
  • All non CDL Drivers receive two consecutive nights off every week, and everyone gets Saturday off.
  • Generally, you'll work between 40 to 45+ hours per week during a 4 days 10-hour shift (OR) a 5 days 8-hour shift based on the routes available and the restaurants we serve.

Equipment: You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and around-the-clock resources, including:
  • Tractor: Brand new Kenworth T680 automatic tractor with leather, air ride seats; truck GPS; rear and side view cameras when reversing
  • Trailer: 48" Great Dane featuring electric side lift gates with gutter guard and tandem lights over rear tires.
  • Power Sleds: Battery-powered pallet jacks to easily move product into restaurants.
  • Mobile Devices: Samsara devices, a mobile app that shows where to park and unload at each restaurant and ELD charging in the cab.
  • In House Maintenance Team: Chick-fil-A Supply onsite mechanics keep equipment running smoothly.
Responsibilities

Efficiency and Organization:
  • Make safe, timely deliveries
  • Operates the Commercial Vehicle in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) as well as all local, state and federal requirements
  • Unload and put away product at Restaurants
  • Upon return to the DC, assist in unloading the truck and putting away equipment (e.g., hand truck)
  • Collaborate with team leaders before and after trips to assess unload time, delivery issues, continuous improvement initiatives and other aspects of the job
  • Build relationships with Restaurant Operators to learn about best practices at each delivery location
  • Complete routes within established Restaurant delivery windows
  • Complete all pickup and returns (e.g., pallets, carts, etc.) from Restaurants, and properly submit paperwork at the end of each shift
Safety First:
  • Keep vehicle clean and report maintenance issues as necessary
  • Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements:
  • Operating within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD)
  • Follow all pre- and post-trip equipment inspection and DVIR reporting procedures
  • Routine audit of vehicle registration, permits, insurance, IFTA, and other required docs
  • Operate within legal state and federal vehicle weight limits
  • Following all policies and procedures in the FSMA regarding safe food transport
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy
  • Abide by all yard safety procedures to include but not limited to, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings and PPE requirements
  • Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions based on instructions at the delivery location (DC or Restaurants)
  • Report defects, accidents, or violations in accordance with DOT regulations and Company Policy
  • Frequently lift up to 65 pounds, and/or move pallets/carts with mechanical assistance up to 1500 pounds
  • Perform work in all weather conditions, during both the day and night
  • Maintain a current driver's license and medical card as required by DOT; random drug tests will also be required
  • Manage time off to ensure proper rest and operate in compliance with DOT regulations
  • Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Prepare for shifts to rotate
  • Attend shift in proper attire and with safety equipment as required by company guidelines
  • Work in a multi-temperature environment including freezer temperatures
  • Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements and CFA-S minimum driver qualifications
  • Act as a Navigator/Helper to CDL-A Drivers when required
  • Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner
  • Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload
  • Other duties as may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent (e.g., GED)
  • 21 years of age
  • At least 6 months of verifiable experience of operating a CMV on public roads within the past 3 years
  • Must have only one valid Driver's License (free of restrictions or limitations) of the type required and issued by the state of residence. Applicants whose licenses are not issued by their state of residency must have license transfers completed no later than thirty days from hire date.
