About the Team:
Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.

You will work closely with a variety of internal partners including other members of the Regional Product Policy team, Issue Product Policy, and USDS Product Policy who specialize in high-risk and regulated activities as well as human exploitation content. In addition to policy development and review, you will also support internal teams which identify, triage and remove violative content. In limited circumstances, this may require you to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:
- Organize and articulate ambiguous and complex ideas into clear documentation and analysis;
- Work closely with cross-functional partners and external experts to stay up-to-date on emerging social media trends in the US and Canada to predict and prevent violations of TikTok's Community Guidelines;
- Execute research projects with internal Trust & Safety stakeholders, including work planning, research, data collection, and analysis;
- Draft, analyze, update, and implement High-Risk and Regulated Activities as well as Human Exploitation policies for the US and Canadian markets, leveraging insights in line with our global approach to Trust and Safety;
- Advise internal and external stakeholders on the nuances of High-Risk and Regulated Activities as well as Human Exploitation Content;
- Maintain and improve guidance and training documents for moderators and internal Trust & Safety teams working to safeguard the platform;
- Act as a policy point of contact for all High-Risk and Regulated Activities as well as Human Exploitation content in coordination with regional and global stakeholders, and respond to content safety-related emergencies.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of work experience and/or advanced education in Trust & Safety, content policy, brand safety, public policy, law, behavioral science, social media or other relevant field with a focus on high-risk and regulated goods content (e.g., firearms, counterfeit goods, frauds and scams, wildlife, and criminal activity etc.);
- Significant knowledge of the online safety space; content management; and online community;
- Good understanding and knowledge of the US and Canadian markets, including cultural norms and public discourse on content safety considerations;
- Passion for limiting user exposure to some of the most harmful content, mitigating risk, all while balancing human rights and fundamental freedoms;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and deep familiarity with policy development;
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify trade-offs, and make decisions in high-pressure situations;
- Optimistic, principled, solutions-oriented, and self-starting;
