Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Position Summary

We are seeking one Research Assistant to assist with Northern Bobwhite trapping, radio-telemetry tracking, nest monitoring, as well as other associated fieldwork as part of larger experimental study. Consists of data entry, equipment maintenance, and other various duties upon request of the supervisors. Incumbent will also gain opportunities to interact directly with the grant sponsor. Technicians will be working with minimal supervision on site and will be comfortable working independently (even after dark). Housing will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Knowledge in Wildlife management or closely related field.
  • Interest in game bird management and ecology.
  • Previous telemetry, field research, and computer experience.
  • Understanding of consumptive wildlife management practices.
  • Positive attitude and willing to be a team player.
  • Prior experience working with Northern Bobwhites.
  • Previous experience with radio-telemetry.

  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Comfortable working alone after dark.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.
