Job Summary:
This is for a full-time inpatient hospitalist APP at Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital. Twelve-hour shifts with 7 on and 7 off. The services delegated to the Nurse Practitioner will form a component of the supervising physician's scope of practice. Services rendered by the Nurse Practitioner must be provided under the supervision, direction, and ultimate responsibility of a licensed surgeon accountable to the Board of Medical Examiners (A.B.O.S.). The Nurse Practitioner must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Functions include managing the care of patients, preparing the patient for discharge, completing History and Physical examinations, as well as discharge summaries. The Nurse Practitioner must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient and customer satisfaction.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of North Carolina guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education:
Required:
RN with a Master's degree in nursing certification in family and/or adult nurse practitioner. Graduate of a nationally accredited school of nursing.

Required:
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. Eligibility to sit for certification in area of specialty

The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.
