Purpose:
In addition to performing imaging procedures at an advanced level, provides technical expertise to multiple business units. Functions as a resource to staff to provide orientation, continuing education and protocol development.

Responsibilities:
  • Interacts with patients and co-workers by displaying the values of caring, listening, dignity and respect.
  • Responsible for technologist quality assurance program and the reviewing and updating of protocols alongside of or in place of the lead technologists. Assumes leadership role in educating staff on new equipment
  • Attends advanced training sessions and seminars in order to maintain industry standards in imaging techniques and disseminates information to imaging departmental leadership and as a part of new hire orientation.
  • Creates and implements new training programs, where applicable, and assists with the startup of new offsite locations. Responsibilities for new locations include, but are not limited to, working on reporting systems, obtaining appropriate images and effectively communicating with attending physicians as well as co-workers and patients
  • Leads education on new techniques and protocols for research studies and collaborates with radiologists and researchers where applicable to identify new techniques and problem solving resolutions.
  • Performs all responsibilities of Level II Advanced Nuclear Medicine tech including maintains proper records of radiopharmaceuticals and calculates, measures and records patient dose. Performs all quality control checks on imaging and non-imaging equipment. Properly identifies all patients and provides instructions for exams. Competently performs all nuclear medicine exams and codes and tracks exams in RIS.
  • Assist with accreditation responsibilities.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to technologists on a daily operational basis. Assist technologists with continuing education needs and participates as a peer delegate in staff annual performance reviews.


Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology Program required.
  • 3 Years nuclear medicine experience required.
  • PET-CT experience preferred.
  • Must have obtained a performance review rating of strong/solid/good on most recent performance review to be eligible for promotion.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • PET and/or NCT registry preferred.
  • CPR or BLS Required - CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
