Responsibilities

The Infusion Center at Chandler Regional Medical Center generally provides care to patients on an outpatient basis. Care focuses on continuous assessment and evaluation. Services include those that may be performed by a professional registered nurse, as well as those for which special training has been provided. Professional behaviors inherent in the Ambulatory Treatment Unit practice are the acquisition and application of a specialized body of knowledge and skills, accountability and responsibility, communication, autonomy, and collaborative relationships with members of the multidisciplinary health care team.

The Infusion Center is an outpatient unit. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 0630 - 2130. The department is closed weekends and holidays. On-call staffing is provided for inpatient PICC insertion services on weekends and holidays from 0700 - 1600 and for outpatient infusions that must be given according to schedule.

The infusion nurse duties include but are not limited to:
  • Performing patient assessments and creating care plans to address individual needs
  • Administering therapeutic intravenous treatments
  • Reviewing laboratory results and correcting abnormalities per facility policy
  • Monitoring for infusion complications and addressing issues with the medical team


Qualifications

Minimum:

Current AZ State RN License in good standing.

Current American Heart Association BLS card.

Chemotherapy and biotherapy provider card with 6 months of hire required.

Preferred:

One year infusion therapy experience.

Two years Med-Surg experience.

ACLS.
