Each employee has a role to help New Mexicans, and this role fills a critical need as the Nurse Manager who works closely with Public Health Nurses throughout the NE Region.

Why does the job exist?

This Public Health Nurse Manager- Registered Nurse - Supervisor (RN-S) position is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico to address the unique public health challenges faced by the population of Santa Fe County. This position is part of the Northeast (NE) Regional Health Services Team which is responsible for providing Health Services throughout the NE Region, with a focus on Santa Fe County through community partnerships, outreach and clinical services. The mission is to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes and assure safety net services for the people to the NE Region for the ultimate goal of a healthier New Mexico. The Public Health Nurse Manager (RN-S) will supervise and oversee all Health Services staff and operations at the Santa Fe Public Health Office. The position will support and provide direct clinical and outreach nursing services. The specific Health Services Programs supported by the Public Health Nurse Manager (RN-S) include, but are not limited to, Family Planning, Immunizations, Infection Prevention, Breast and Cervical Cancer, TB Treatment and Prevention, Teen Health, Emergency Preparedness, Harm Reduction, Syringe Exchange and Sexually Transmitted Diseases and MOUD.

How does it get done?

Key responsibilities of this position include providing supervision, direction, oversight and training of Health Services staff and operations. Key responsibilities also include providing clinical coverage --direct care-- in Health Services Programs, including but not limited to: Family Planning, Immunizations, Infection Prevention, Breast and Cervical Cancer, TB Treatment and Prevention, Teen Health, Emergency Preparedness, Harm Reduction, Syringe Exchange, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and MOUD. The Public Health Nurse Manager (RN-S) directs clinic operations, policies, procedures and standing orders, clinical services, outreach and collaboration; assuring quality standards are followed and maintained in all Health Services operations and services; utilizing electronic systems, special projects, collaborating with other internal (NMDOH) and external partners. The position also initiates, builds, strengthens and maintains relationships in the local communities to collaboratively assure the public health needs of the population is being addressed.

This position is focused on the population of Santa Fe County. Additionally, this position supports the NE Region Health Services Team which provides direct Public Health clinical outreach and community partnerships to the population of the NE Region of New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

1. 2 years of direct supervisory experience
2. Experience in and familiarity with Public Health and the programs offered
3. Ability to work independently
4. Ability to effectively and harmoniously lead a multidisciplinary team

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within sixty days of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Office, clinic and community settings, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Day trip travel throughout the NE Region and on occasion to other parts of New Mexico. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
