UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Manager to oversee our new Oncology unit.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full Time, 40 hours per week

  • Primarily day shifts, but with 24/7 accountability for program management and the delivery of quality care

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

    E1 Oncology will be a newly established 29-bed inpatient oncology unit. This position will also be responsible for the on-site hospital-based outpatient infusion clinic. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a dedicated nursing team that always puts their patients first.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee employees, including Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and unit secretaries.

  • Manage day-to-day operations including scheduling templates, patient access, and clinical flow.

  • Act as an expert clinical resource when staff encounter problems or questions.

  • Interview and hire new employees, complete regular performance evaluations for department staff, develop staff skillsets, and utilize the disciplinary process when appropriate.

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders (including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center) to ensure program priorities, performance and outcome measures, and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Ensure that department operates in a cost-effective manner for UW Medicine

  • Ensure that evidence-based nursing practice is integrated into department operations.

  • Ensures that department meets regulatory standards (e.g. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control and model customer service standards for staff and practitioners.

    REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

  • 2 years of management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

  • An active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State

  • Recent oncology nursing experience

  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH, and other regulatory agency standards
