The Nurse Practice Specialist is responsible for working collaboratively with the health care team to ensure that both practice and professional standards are identified and maintained in the delivery of patient care, and that mutually determined patient outcomes are achieved. The Nurse Practice Specialist promotes excellence in patient care while supporting and facilitating professional growth and development and upholding standards of professionalism. The Nurse Practice Specialist supports the mission, vision and values; upholding and advancing the clinical, practice and patient experience goals of Cooley Dickinson Hospital through systemwide collaboration, dissemination knowledge and provision of education.

This position supports the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and will work with all staff in Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology consistent with the guidelines of the Oncology Nursing Society.

This position reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Nursing; Master's degree or current enrollment in a Master's program strongly preferred
  • Current licensure as an RN in Massachusetts
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Certification in specialty area relevant to assignment. New hires have one year from the date of hire to obtain their specialty area certification
  • Affiliation with a professional organization is strongly recommended
  • At least two (2) years' experience and clinical competency in specialty area to include ambulatory infusion, chemotherapy and biotherapy administration
  • Demonstrated experience in education preferred
