Nurse Practitioner- Casual Overnights

Job Description:

• PURPOSE OF JOB : To perform, under the responsibility and supervision of a Hospitalist physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks allowing the Hospitalist to extend his/her services. The NP/PA assists the Hospitalist through the more effective use of this knowledge and decision-making, helping to establish diagnoses and to plan subsequent therapy. He/she may assist in gathering the data necessary to implement the therapeutic plan of hospitalization. A major role will be as a patient's advocate in the medical care system serving as an advisor and liaison between patients and physicians.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (Maximum of 6)

• Assists the physician in the admission, care and work-up of patients.
• Participates in inpatient care of patients being especially knowledgeable in the recognition of change in the patient's symptoms.
• Assists the physician and patient in the discharge planning process.

Job Qualifications:
V. QUALIFICATIONS :

• Education:

If PA: 1. Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science from an accredited institution required

2. Current Physician Assistant licensure in Pennsylvania

3. NCCPA certified

4. Prescriptive authority determined by supervising physician- (newly hired has 30 days to obtain)

5. CPR & ACLS

If NP: 1. Masters of Nursing degree from an accredited institution required

2. Current Pennsylvania licensure required:

- Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP)

- Registered Nurse (RN)

- Prescriptive Authority

3. Board certified NP or board eligible NP

4. CPR & ACLS
