The Department of Surgery unit at Northridge Hospital Medical Center is actively seeking individuals who demonstrate patient care excellence. We are seeking a Nurse Shift Manager for the unit to coordinate, supervise and implement patient care to patients Newborn to 18 years in accordance with individual needs based on competence, professional expertise, knowledge and evidence-based practice. The Nurse Shft Manger is expected to practice autonomously, consistent with professional standards, Nurse Practice Act and hospital job description specific to the unit. This position is critical to the success of Northridge Medical Center and requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission and organizational values of the Dignity Health system.
The Nurse Shift Manager plans the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift. Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff, taking into consideration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level. Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them. Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.
In addition, Dignity Health has made the conscious decision to implement solutions that will improve patient care outcomes and nursing competencies. As a result, all RN candidates considered for this position will be required to take a series of assessments during our application and interviewing process that include a basic math assessment and a thorough behavioral-based questionnaire in addition to providing up to three professional references and a copy of your most recent performance evaluation.

- Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular, shift. Assigns patietns to available nursing staff, taking into consieration the patient's condition and the employee's skill level.
- Ability to serve as leader and teammate
- Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
- Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them. Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
- Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.
- Ensure your direct reports and department are positioned to deliver the best care possible to our patients
- High level of engagement with the floor- visibly connecting with nurses patients and families
- Attend meetings with leadership to learn about new initiatives areas for improvement etc. and share that information with your team
- Monitor productivity and efficiency of your department
- Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with assistant nurse managers charge nurses and others

Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN) required and actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or other-related field (e.g., BSN/BBA/BHA).
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse.
- Registered Nurse with current CA License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) other credentials or credential modules may be required.
- PALS certification required
- LA City Fire Card required within 90 days of hire.
