Assistant Professor and Director of Special Academic Programs, College of Nursing

INTERNAL SEARCH- UTHSC-Memphis Faculty Only

Responsibilities:

  • Distinguished Visiting Professors (DVPs) and Cashdollar lectures.
  • Develops relationships with community, clinical, and administrative leaders to identify and present opportunities for collaboration and initiation of new academic non-degree, non-certificate special academic programs.
  • Reports to the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs on matters of academic non-degree, non-certificate special program development and evolution and curriculum development.
  • Collaborates with the Dean on strategic planning for special academic programming and development of new programming.
  • Works with the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs on student recruitment into academic non-degree, non-certificate seeking special programs.
  • Collaborates with the Dean, Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and the Associate Dean for Research, to seek new funding opportunities while maintaining current funding mechanisms as feasible.
  • Provides oversight of academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs to ensure compliance with university policies and regulations of certifying and accrediting bodies.
  • Tracks student data related to academic nondegree, non-certificate special programs.
  • Participates in the preparation of official reports related to academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs.
  • Plans with faculty chairs the operationalization of academic special non-degree, non-certificate special programs, including the integration of faculty workload, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, in providing leadership for recruitment and selection processes of students accepted into academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs.
  • Coordinates mentorship in both academic and non-academic interactions for students enrolled in academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs. Works with the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to review annual goals and evaluations of academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs.
  • Ensures all academic non-degree, non-certificate special program manuals are up to date and accurate.
  • Ensures CON website related to academic non-degree, non-certificate special programs is up to date and accurate.


Basic Qualifications:

  • The candidate must qualify for rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
  • Must possess doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must be a current UTHSC faculty member.
  • Must be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Tennessee.


Departmental Preferences:

  • Must be detail-oriented, strategic thinking to assist in program growth.
