Job Description:

Support the Laurel Ridge Nursing Programs by coordinating clinical, simulation, and laboratory placements and experiences. Enhance program outcomes and ensure compliance with regulatory and clinical requirements for students and clinical faculty. Work directly with students, faculty, program leadership, and clinical partners. Participate in student tracking and support activities, including coaching incoming nursing student cohorts to ensure student compliance with entrance and clinical requirements. Offer administrative support for the nursing programs, the Director of Nursing, and supports accreditation efforts and student tracking.

Core Responsibilities/Essential Functions:


The Clinical and Simulation Coordinator is primarily responsible for developing and implementing clinical, laboratory, simulation, and preceptorship schedules. This includes ensuring timely communication with students, faculty, and clinical sites, and coordinating with stakeholders to address any scheduling issues. The role also involves onboarding and maintaining clinical site requirements, managing digital compliance trackers and Canvas cohort pages, and serving as the primary contact for compliance-related matters. The coordinator attends student orientations to present clinical site requirements and supports students and faculty in meeting these requirements.

In addition to scheduling and compliance tasks, the coordinator provides operational and administrative support for the Director of Nursing and nursing programs. This includes supporting accreditation efforts through student tracking and records maintenance, maintaining electronic files, and serving as a liaison between admissions and program leadership. The coordinator also oversees purchasing for the nursing programs, ensuring adherence to budget and compliance with state purchasing procedures. Part-time faculty oversight involves monitoring the faculty pool, recruiting new faculty, conducting monthly meetings, and validating logged hours. The coordinator ensures consistent office hours, fosters a positive learning environment, and participates in faculty committees to support student success and program improvement.

The hiring range for this position is $54,418.00-$80,000.00. Salary will commensurate with education and experience. This is a Quasi Classified position and salary will be prorated as such. The schedule for this quasi-full-time position will be 36 hours per week for 12 months. The position is classified staff and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies. Telework

According to DHRM policy 1.61 Teleworking , effective July 5, 2022, Virginia state employees will return to the workplace. Consistent with pre-pandemic policies, telework may be an option for certain eligible positions. Eligible positions are determined by the type of work and job requirements of the position, as defined by heads of agencies. Positions requiring more than two days of telework weekly will require approval from the Department of Education's Cabinet Secretary. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Academic training or demonstrated experience in administrative support, healthcare, management, or human resources.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn electronic tracking systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in clinical coordination or healthcare administration.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Experience with state purchasing in Virginia.
  • Experience with accreditation and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with Concept Based Curriculum and educational platforms like Canvas, Shadow Health, Elsevier, or Trajecsys.
