We are seeking a Nursing Practice Specialist to join the Cardiac Interventional Access Unit!

The Cardiac Interventional Access Unit (CAU) is a 36-bed adult Cardiac Step-down unit located on Ellison 11. The CAU is specialized in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure, heart failure patients with pulmonary artery line for tailored therapy and a range of complex cardiac conditions.

Primary responsibilities of the Nursing Practice Specialist include:

Supporting independent nursing practice through collaborative, consultative and role modeling activitie

  • Applying new technology, nursing theories, research findings and experiential knowledge to improve nursing practice
  • Responding to changes in clinical practice by planning, designing, implementing, or evaluating guidelines, protocols, and standards in collaboration with the nursing director, nursing staff and others.
  • Implementing and evaluating educational programs and practice changes based upon assessed learning needs of patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

Qualification

  • Massachusetts RN License required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience in critical care.
  • Knowledge expert in the care of the cardiac patient across the continuum.
  • Dedication to both bedside teaching and formal hospital education programs.
  • Ability to multi-task and to support staff nurses, who range from new graduates to those with 30+ years of experience.
  • Ability to develop and support unit-based quality improvement/research projects.


a. Graduation from a graduate degree program with a clinical practicum designed to prepare the graduate for practice as a CNS that is approved by a national accrediting organization for academic programs acceptable to the Board; and

b. Successful completion of, at minimum, core content at the graduate level in advanced assessment, advanced pathophysiology and advanced pharmacotherapeutics.

c. Current CNS certification granted by a Board recognized certifying organization

Nursing Practice Specialist Requirement

a. master's degree in Nursing or related field.

c. Certification in specialty area or willingness to acquire.
