Job Summary
• Assists in the coordination and facilitation of patient care and hospital operations
on all shifts. Provides supervision, leadership, direction, and clinical support to
assure the delivery of safe, quality patient care. Functions as administrative
resource for hospital operations in the absence of Administration.

General Responsibilities
• Complies with all Temple University Health System policies and procedures, and
all applicable accreditation standards, laws and regulations, including those
regarding patient confidentiality such as, but not limited to, Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, P. L. 104-191 ('HIPAA') and the rules
and regulations implemented hereunder.

Job Responsibilities
• HOUSE SUPERVISOR 1:
- Assists and supports the quality and effectiveness of nursing care provided to
patients on all nursing units. The Responsibility and Accountability 'meets
standards' when:
(1) Makes daily rounds to assess the status of staff, patients and the quality
of care delivered. Reviews documentation. Acts to assure staff and patient
satisfaction and takes appropriate action when needed. Provides daily
feedback regarding staff performance. Promotes professional practice.
(2) Identifies and works to implement strategies to optimize flow of patients
through the continuum and in collaboration with other departments.
(3) Attends bed meetings and communicates with ATC to assure timely
patient flow. Supports appropriate placement during the admission and
transfer process.
(4) Promotes patient and staff safety. Supports staff follow through on safety
initiatives. Contributes to patient and staff safety.
(5) Participates in continuous quality improvement activities implementing
and communicating corrective action plans and interventions.
• HOUSE SUPERVISOR 2:
- Assists with the utilization of both material and human resources. The
Responsibility and Accountability 'meets standards' when:
(1) Supports staffing policies and procedures to assure equity and availability.
Communicates staffing policies and procedures to all staff.
(2) Monitors and promotes effective staffing. Effectively assigns Float Pool
staff based on patient care needs.
(3) Supports effective material resource management. Determines where
efficiencies can be gained through better equipment management, take
action where needed and communicates concerns to leadership.
• HOUSE SUPERVISOR 3:
- Demonstrates accountability for personal and professional competency and

relevant continuing education.

collaborative practice.
