Job Summary The Sr. LVN is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The Sr. LVN provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as a vocational nurse for the department/clinical team to which it is assigned. The Sr. LVN is supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse when performing duties within the vocational nurse scope of practice. The Sr. LVN works under the direction of clinic/department management for administrative purposes, including customer service, professional behavior & development, assignment & scheduling of work, and performance of job functions not requiring supervision by an LIP. This position supports the department of OBGYN and the sub-specialties within the department, including Family Planning and abortion services.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2 years of recent LVN experience in an ambulatory or outpatient setting
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR certification or UCDH issued CPR Certification. Current CPR and renewal bi-annually
• Must provide proof of valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification
• Valid California State Board of Vocational Nurse (LVN) licensure without restrictions.
• Must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military.

• Medication authorizations

Department Description

The UC Davis Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to providing the highest quality care to people in every stage of their life, whether they are seeking contraceptive or fertility advice, care during and after pregnancy, or treatment for menopausal symptoms. The OBGYN Clinic completes approximately 25,000 visits per year at the Ambulatory Care Center and Glassrock Building locations in Sacramento. In addition to general obstetrics and gynecology, services are provided in the subspecialties of Dysplasia, Endocrinology, Perinatology, Prenatal Diagnosis, Oncology, Urogynecology, and Family Planning. Our Family Planning offers abortion services for our patients. Support patient education, Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Ability to lift, move, and/or position patients as necessary to room them and prepare them for exams and procedures.
• May be required to have the ability to retrieve and file bulky medical record charts (up to 3" thick) stored in filing cabinets and on shelves that may be above shoulder level and below waist level, and to efficiently transport multiple charts weighing 5 to 25 pounds throughout the medical office.
• Must be willing to work variable days (including weekends), hours and locations as required to meet business needs of the practice.
