Job Description Summary
MUSC Health Orangeburg is seeking a dynamic and adaptable Acute Occupational Therapist to join our full-time team. Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Patient-Centered Care:
  • Conduct thorough evaluations to assess patients' physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans to address patients' specific needs and goals.
  • Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve patients' functional independence.
  • Perform mobility screens and provide mobility support to patients and care team members to help promote, sustain, and reinforce a culture of mobility.

Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including providers, nurses, and other therapists.
  • Participate in care conferences and/or multi-disciplinary rounds to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Effectively communicate and share insights with colleagues to enhance patient care.

Documentation:
  • Perform point-of-service documentation, ensuring accurate and timely recording of patient progress and treatment interventions.
  • Maintain patient records in compliance with legal and institutional requirements.

Scope of Practice:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in occupational therapy.
  • Strive to understand the underlying reasons for treatment strategies and not just the methods.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills within the field.

Adherence to Policies and Guidelines:
  • Follow all institutional policies, guidelines, and protocols related to patient care and safety. Provide feedback when requested.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical and professional standards in occupational therapy.

Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree or Master's in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
  • CPR certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Positive and energetic attitude.
  • Dedication to patient-centered care and maximizing time spent with patients.
  • Commitment to practicing at the highest level of scope within the profession. Preference given to candidates with a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree (OTD) and/or advanced certifications/skills.
