Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research this position is responsible for extracting, analyzing, modeling, forecasting, interpreting, and reporting enrollment management and student success data from both institutional and external data bases, employing technology tools, such as data mining or analytics; developing and conducting research studies using statistical techniques; presenting data and results to various audiences; serving on and supporting task forces and committees; and working collaboratively on projects with colleagues within and outside the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience with higher education information and data management.

• Demonstrated experience in research design, data gathering and manipulation, and statistical aggregation and analysis, including the ability to present information clearly using appropriate database, spreadsheet, and graphical tools.

• Demonstrated experience with data architecture, implementation of web-based interfaces to databases, and data extract and manipulation.

• Programming proficiency in computer languages like: SQL , R, Stata, SAS and SPSS .

• Demonstrated experience with data collection, validation, storage, and retrieval techniques and the ability to create and manipulate large data sets efficiently.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituencies to provide direction, advice, coordination, and help in the collection, interpretation, and use of data.

• Ability to work as a member of a team.

• Familiarity with a broad array of higher education-related data and the ability to evaluate its validity and relevance in relation to policy development.
Preferred Qualifications
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Skill in research design, data gathering and manipulation, and statistical aggregation and analysis, including the ability to present information clearly using appropriate database, spreadsheet, and graphical tools. Critical to the design process is the ability to anticipate the data consumer's unexpressed needs and questions.

• Experience with business intelligence systems, especially Cognos; data mining, and analytics.

• Technical experience as a Tableau content creator

• Demonstrated skill in advanced statistical techniques and analysis and interpretation of results.

• Knowledge of education in Oregon including community college, private and public higher education, and of higher education throughout the U.S.

• Report writing skills.

Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $80,893 and $95,052 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
