The Elder Pride Services (EPS) Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) works at the Opal, a 54-unit housing community created for low-income LGBTQ+ older adults as a safe and supportive home environment where they can thrive. The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) works independently and collaboratively with multiple Friendly House and property management teams, as well as other Elder Pride Service partners, to provide community and home-based support services. This position provides services focused on supporting residents in stabilizing housing, improving health, and combatting isolation through intentional community development. The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) is knowledgeable about LBGTQ+ history, understands the diversity of the local LGBTQ+ community and the intersection of aging and the Queer experience.

Essential functions
  • Knowledge of Washington County community resources.
  • Establish trust by fostering professional relationships with residents.
  • Successful engagement of residents in building community and linking them into the broader Friendly House and LGBTQ+ older adult communities.
  • Effectively assist residents in enhancing quality of life through quality education, recreation, and other life-sustaining supportive services.
  • Provide mediation services for residents and property management relating to housing stability. Mediate disputes between residents.
  • Establish relationships with new residents supporting successful integration into community life in the building.
  • Responsive to property managers when concerns arise to support residents in preventing eviction.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with community-based service provider throughout Washington County, working in coordination with residents, including referrals. Assist residents in accessing services and advocating for their needs.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of LBGTQ+ history and diversity, local LGBTQ+ community, and the intersection of aging and the Queer experience.
  • Respectful and sensitive to the values and lived experience of LGBTQ+ older adults.
  • 2-3 years of increasing responsibility in social work or human services with an emphasis on direct client work and program development. Experience in resident services, case management, and direct services with older adults, preferably working with LBGTQ+ community members.
  • Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, Health Studies, Social Justice or related field.
  • Alternative education/lived experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including active listening, written and verbal communication, and building interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated use of professional judgement while providing services to vulnerable and diverse populations.
  • Dependable, reliable, punctual.
  • Flexibility to adapt services and programs to meet residents' and organization's needs.
  • Competent at implementing Strengths Based Approach.
  • Computer literate. Proficient with MS 365 and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check (ORCHARDS) and motor vehicle report (MVR).
