Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel, the Operating Room Aide assists in providing direct patient care and tasks required for daily unit functions.

Duties include:
  • Obtaining equipment, supplies and positioning aids for operative cases.
  • Assisting with setting up the operating room, holding limbs for surgical prep, and assisting with patient positioning under the direction of the RN circulator.
  • Dismantling and transporting dirty instruments and equipment to the decontamination area.
  • Performing room cleaning and turnover duties between cases and patient transport.
  • Performing final checks of case carts to ensure that all needed supplies and equipment are available for surgical procedures.


Experience: Previous experience working in an operating room as an ORA.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Education:A high school diploma or GED is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
