General Information:
James Madison University's Office of Creative Propulsion (OCP) invites applications for a full-time Operations and Engagement Coordinator. OCP supports College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) students and faculty in ideating, launching, and refining arts-based efforts that reimagine and disrupt traditional practices, stretch and break artistic boundaries, and promote more equitable and inclusive opportunities for meaningful arts engagement. The OCP is a multi-faceted center for arts engagement made up of the following initiatives: interdisciplinary research support for students and faculty in CVPA; innovative cross-disciplinary courses; university and community arts research forums; arts impact reporting; community engaged arts programming; arts based research studies; and the Madison Art Collection Lisanby Museum. The office behaves as a bridge to support collaboration, transparency, and reporting across arts disciplines, across the university, with our regional community, and beyond, centering the value of the arts and collaboration as central to its mission. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations and Engagement Coordinator will contribute to OCP, CVPA, and JMU by:
•Coordinating, supporting, and working within existing and emerging OCP and CVPA community engagement initiatives (e.g., Centering the Arts Podcast, Interdisciplinary Research Forums and Panels, Research Speed Dating Events, the JMU ArtsMobile).
•Manages OCP's Roop Hall suite, its inventory, and/or any new spaces as an engaged site for multidisciplinary collaboration (e.g., visual exhibitions, lectures, journal/book clubs, Haynes Scholars collaboration).
•Serves as public-facing point of public contact for OCP (e.g., answer phone and greet visitors during business hours) and collaborates with OCP and CVPA faculty and staff to schedule events/meetings/classes, arrange furniture, order catering, and meet other needs associated with integrative arts efforts.
•Contributes to research and reporting on arts needs and impacts within the university, surrounding community, and region. Works with Executive Director to identify latest research on arts impacts and needs, OCP's own research in Harrisonburg, and collaborates on outputs.
•Supports identification and development of applications to external funding opportunities and corporate/foundation gifts to support OCP's work. Assists with research, writing, budget development, and editing associated with advancing successful proposals.
•Collaborates with OCP Executive Director, CVPA Director of Communications and Marketing, Office of Research and Scholarship, and University Communications and Marketing to highlight OCP accomplishments.
•Collaborates with OCP Graduate Assistants and OCP Executive Director to utilize learnings from the Harrisonburg Arts Needs Assessment (HANA) to guide future action.
•Manages and updates OCP website content (e.g., publishing stories, adding events to calendar) as needed, collaborating with student interns to oversee OCP social media.
•Collaborates with OCP's Executive Director to run the Arts Internship Program, which supports students in CVPA who receive training in Arts Administration tasks. Includes meeting with interns, organizing their tasks, communicating expectations, helping them track hours, and facilitating their training.
•Supports OCP's administrative needs in collaboration with CVPA fiscal technicians to manage OCP budget (e.g., budget outlook, reconciliation).
•Facilitates office purchases and serves as Fixed Assets Coordinator, maintaining all necessary trainings.
•Collaborates with CVPA faculty and staff to support college-wide initiatives.
•Maintains an awareness of the latest research in arts needs, values, and impacts in the region and beyond.
•Performs other duties as assigned.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
