Overview

Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, this position manages and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the facility (arena, exhibition hall, and meeting rooms), including engineering, maintenance, set-up / changeovers, custodial, and grounds keeping. Provides overall administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers and supervisors while maintaining the highest quality service program to ensure client satisfaction. Assists in the development and management of annual Operations Department budget. Provides overall department management assistance to the Director of Operations.

This role will pay a salary of $50,000 to $58,000.

Responsibilities
  • Bachelor's/Technical degree from an accredited college/university/school preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in an operations or event management position in an arena, convention center or public assembly facility with knowledge of setup, custodial and event coordination including progressive supervisory responsibility.
  • General knowledge of physical plant management
  • Ability to lead, supervisor, and direct work crew operations
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid forklift license - Forklift Certification preferred (training provided, if needed)
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid state driver's license

Qualifications
  • Assists Director of Operations with the oversight of the daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems. This includes HVAC, sound, lighting, fire protection, life safety, workplace safety, communications, video boards, etc.
  • Schedules and oversees assistant operations manager, operations supervisors, maintenance technicians, building services supervisors, etc.
  • Provide support and management oversite of custodial services including daily cleaning, pre-event, event and post-event cleaning, day-to-day operations, and PM programs.
  • Oversee the administration of all part time staff: Hire, train, evaluate, and motivate.
  • Provide support and management oversite of the Operations department: event set-up and tear-down, i.e., basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, tables, etc.
  • Review payroll, track purchase orders, submit labor reports for event settlement.
  • Assists in negotiation and administration of contracts with outside vendors including pest control, scoreboard systems, seasonal landscaping, etc.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations Department budget; Forecasting of future funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures.
  • Order supplies and materials for building supplies and maintenance within budget guidelines.
  • Acts as co-liaison with University, City and State Services for numerous facility related functions (city codes, fire safety codes, licenses, permits, etc.)
  • Responsible for Health & Safety compliance
  • Represents Operations Department in absence of Director of Operations
  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Operations
