Mission:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager manages manufacturing activities for the facility. Has full operations (direct labor) and financial responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments. Makes recommendations and decisions that have an important impact on business margins as well as customer impact of the company. Directly manages all direct labor and process engineering activities. Ensures production variable cost and productivity goals are met or exceeded. Improves on-time delivery to customers to targeted level. Adheres to process control/quality criteria to reduce rework and scrap. Manages fixed and variable budgets for direct production departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: of the successful candidate for this position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinate and manage a full complement of production and production support activities.
  • Interface and work with key staff positions: Materials Management, Sales/Customer Service, Product Engineering, Quality, Accounting, HR, IT, etc.
  • Drives cost reduction and continuous improvement in the attainment of corporate goals. Responsible for cost control and budget attainment.
  • Meet required customer shipping schedules.
  • Establishes and executes capital planning efforts supporting manufacturing.
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental safety, efficiency, productivity, quality, cooperation and morale. Maintains adequate staffing to meet required production schedules. Leads the annual budgeting process for areas of responsibility.
  • Works with employees to effectively resolve work place issues, gives necessary feedback on employee performance.
  • Takes appropriate steps to protect and safeguard intellectual property.
  • Develops and analyzes the operating budget; projects and plans for future needs
  • Compiles operating cost data and identifies opportunities for process improvements to reduce cost or improve operations productivity.
  • Provides feedback to the team on performance to operating cost targets.
  • Conducts formal performance appraisals and recommends/approves pay increases, transfers, promotions, discipline and terminations in accordance with Company policies and procedures and state and federal laws.
  • Interviews and hires (recommend for hire) employees. Is aware of and manages hiring process with consideration for affirmative action goals and EEO requirements.
  • Responsible for safety in the areas of responsibility, and maintaining a safe, injury free work environment.
  • Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner and that each employee is properly trained in all safety procedures.
  • Must be able to handle work environments professionally and effectively to get results.
  • Ideal candidate must be able to see, shape, and act of "big picture" changes to improve the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5-8 years' experience in manufacturing operations with direct management responsibility. Also, directing/supervising salary team members to achieve the goals of profit, quality, and delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is required. Six Sigma/Lean certification preferred. Master's degree is preferable, but not required. Engineering degree is preferable, but not required.
  • Candidate should have a good track record in delivering new ideas, managing projects with financial responsibility and provide leadership in directing engineers and others in finishing projects on-time.

For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays.
