This professional will be responsible for driving results on the Operations Risk Team concentrating on bank reconciliation, stock record reporting, and daily risk reporting as well as assisting in regulatory reporting and analysis. The Operations Risk Specialist will be part of a high impact team gathering data, performing analysis, and distributing information across Operations and the firm. The team often works in conjunction with other Corporate Resource Departments driving results and information sharing to accomplish common goals. This role is critical in executing controls and oversight for financial and regulatory reporting and the safeguarding of client and firm assets. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational, teamwork, problem solving, and prioritization skills.

As an Operations Risk Specialist, you will:
  • Execute daily bank reconciliation for over 30 cash accounts across the firm utilizing reconciliation software, manage information flow from banks, and provide information to others to facilitate timely resolution of differences.
  • Manage monthly bank reconciliation process including documentation for financial reporting, outstanding check reconciliation, and cash sweep bank reconciliation.
  • Monitor and facilitate bank portal access requests to add, delete and change user access.
  • Facilitate daily stock record reporting utilizing reconciliation software and provide information to others to facilitate timely resolution of differences.
  • Compile various risk monitoring reports and distribute throughout the Firm including general ledger/trial balance summary.
  • Assist in various regulatory and financial reporting requirements as needed such as customer protection/reserve calculation, financial statement accruals, etc.
  • Provide high value service to internal and external clients in an environment that promotes Baird’s culture and the Operations mission and values statement.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations, Baird policies, and department procedures and policies.
  • Answer and/or initiate Financial Advisor and Client Specialist contact; answer routine questions and follow through on requests.
  • Identify and contribute to productivity, efficiency and effectiveness improvements to drive exceptional client service, regulatory/financial reporting and risk mitigation.
  • Work on special team projects or support other team members in their efforts.
  • Perform other duties and participate in special projects as needed.

What we look for
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or 2+ years of experience in a financial services operations role is a plus.
  • SIE & Series 99 within 120 days of hire.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with data management and SQL query writing is a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments; work within deadlines to produce accurate, high-quality results.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, monitor, and complete multiple tasks or projects, either independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, with the ability to effectively relate to work in a team-oriented setting.
  • Passion for providing high-value client service.
  • Ability to stay focused and to prioritize workload in order to effectively manage time.
  • Proven reliability in performance.
