The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and supervise daily shipping and receiving operations for The GIANT Company Perishable Distribution Center (PDC). Responsibilities include ensuring manpower scheduled is productive in the accommodation of projected workload for both inbound and outbound trailers; that selection, receiving, and forklift work is completed accurately and on time; that trailers are loaded accurately and on time, and that the WMS system is utilized to its fullest extent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directly assist in supervision of all functions pertaining to the accurate store order selection, cross-docking and trailer loading operations for the PDC
• Direct accurate loading in correct store preferred sequence of all outbound trailers and ensure cube trailer utilization metrics are maintained or improved upon
• Directly supervise all pallet replenishment/letdown operations to ensure inventory and location accuracy, and the timeliness of replenishments for store order selection
• Ensure accurate cross-dock receiving and outbound loading to minimize risk of shrink at stores
• Provide input for Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in an accurate and timely manner; maintain all reporting documentation
• Develop productivity enhancement initiatives to pull cost out of the business and maintain efficiencies for the PDC in a cost competitive food distribution industry
• Ensure timely completion of daily shipping requirements to stores and take immediate action to resolve any WMS system problems that could impact daily schedules; monitor the Vo-collect voice selection system and the daily lift/scanner logs
• Monitor and maintain all safety and sanitation policies, practices, and procedures; ensure OSHA standards are met and maintained; report and correct any deficiencies
• Execute effective shift work schedule that allocates available selector/stocker/loader/receiver/recycle operation resources to best cover daily workload volumes
• Ensure daily production standards and metrics are adhered to or improved upon in all areas of shipping and receiving
• Coordinate and communicate all shift efforts in conjunction with other shift supervisors on a daily basis.
• Assist training of all associates and conduct periodic evaluations as needed
• Use the WMS system to monitor and maintain production and product slot assignment; ensure team members use the WMS system and correct or adjust time discrepancies daily; monitor the system for performance and accuracy, report and make recommended changes as identified
• Maintain accurate attendance logs and vacation schedules
• Oversee the delivery of mail, inserts, shelf labels, bonus buy signs, equipment, and sign kits to the stores on their store runs
• Oversee backhaul receiving and the selection accuracy rate
• Conduct power equipment (power jacks, forklifts, etc.) re-certifications of team members to be in compliance with OSHA
• Make daily/weekly decisions on heavy moving items for the upcoming volume increase of the sale ad items using advanced forecasting updates from the PPO buyers
• Maintain and oversee all seasonal projects to include GM/Specialty Grocery/Bakery; this includes arranging appointments, setting up all items, and coordinating with the various buyers to ship product out in a timely manner
• Handle inter-company transfers of perishable merchandise and transfers to various vendors
• Resolve warehouse-related issues with representatives from other departments throughout the company
• Provide customer service to our vendors, working with them on various receiving issues that may surface with receiving product
• Address the needs of the team members
• Conduct loading audits to ensure load cards are completed correctly, there is no cross-contamination, the load straps are being used as well as the destination labels and that the load is in good, sturdy condition to withstand transportation to store
• Set up shift with number of loaders needed, number of stockers needed, and number of selectors needed based on daily volume
• Assign appropriate equipment to each associate for the job function they will be performing; resolve any issues with equipment throughout night and keep daily log on equipment assigned
• Conduct dairy audits and communicate with ICS to have the audit logged

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations in order to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner
• Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position, with or without a reasonable accommodation

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Team members are responsible for understanding company policy and procedures as promulgated in the policy and procedure manual and the team member handbook

• Education (minimum needed): High school diploma or GED, some college credit completion preferred
• Previous supervisory experience required
• Experience (minimum needed): Leadership in distribution operations with increasing responsibility
• Hands-on experience with Vo-collect voice selection system
• Microsoft Word and Excel skills required
• Solid understanding of warehouse management systems; inventory control, shipping, receiving, productivity management systems, quality management, OSHA regulations and state safety regulations
• Solid communication skills, both oral and written
• Demonstrated managerial skills that generated mutual respect and understanding; strong interpersonal coaching, conflict management, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines
• Licensed to operate forklift; basic knowledge of a large (30,000 lbs.) ammonia plant operation and emergency response procedures
