Job Duties
Western State Hospital is looking for a full time Food Tech III who will provide supervision for the operations area as assigned on a daily basis to include sanitation and tray assembly; coordinate the needs/services for area supervised with other areas of the department; provide critical input to department workflow based on oversight of job tasks and observations/coordination of intradepartmental operations; and ensure practice of proper production and food safety practices in accordance with rules and regulations of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH); requirements of the performance planning and evaluations systems are met and evaluations are completed by established guidelines with proper documentation; and performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur in accordance with the Standards of Conduct.
The Operations Supervisor will also supervise and give work direction to the Food Operations Assistants; responsible for making daily decisions to promote efficient work flow within the Tray Assembly area; monitor foodservice provided in tray assembly area to ensure it meets or exceeds food safety and sanitation set by the VDH; wash, rinse, and sanitize equipment and work surfaces; ability to fill in for regular storekeeper with ordering/receipt/issuing of goods for kitchen; and enter/change patient date in the CBORD system to include patient admissions/discharges, dining service schedules (tray holds and eating locations), diet order changes, and patient movement information.

Minimum Qualifications
- basic knowledge of food service production and operations and regulations and/or standards governing foodservice operations
- basic understanding of nutrition and general principles of supervision
- basic computer skills and ability to read and write at a high school level
- ability to communicate with superiors and subordinates and coordinate with peers
- ability to take work direction and prioritize and assign work tasks to subordinates
- ability to coordinate work projects and prioritize/perform multiple tasks
- ability to lift moderate weights (20-50 lbs)
