Position Title (Classification Title): OPS Research Support Specialist Working Title: Research Support Specialist Job Summary: The responsibilities of the Information Specialist are research-related. Information specialists provide professional-level support related to research and creative activities that contribute to the mission of the department, under direct supervision by the chair.

Examples of responsibilities
Serves in a research capacity for a specified department or project within the university, which may include the following duties and responsibilities:
Performs tasks related to specific research and monitoring of natural resources
Assumes responsibilities and assists faculty members in research and creative activities for a designated research area
Develops work plans in accordance with research objectives
Assists in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data and/or research findings
Assists with development and evaluation of materials related to the scope of the research project
Assists in specialized administrative, technical, and editorial duties connected to research and creative activities
Prepares reports associated with research and monitoring projects
Supervises/coordinates participants for data collection
Participates in meetings with stakeholders associated with research projects
Works on supporting ongoing research grants and assisting faculty with developing new grant applications. Department Biology FLSA: Non-Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Experience with issues pertaining to research and scope of research projects
Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, students and volunteers
Skilled with organizing resources, time management, and adhering to budgets associated with specific projects
Skilled with planning, organization, and coordination of activities of staff, students, and volunteers
Skilled in the use of personal computer and related software applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills Position Qualifications: Experience with issues pertaining to research and scope of research projects
Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, students and volunteers
Skilled with organizing resources, time management, and adhering to budgets associated with specific projects
Skilled with planning, organization, and coordination of activities of staff, students, and volunteers
Skilled in the use of personal computer and related software applications
Strong verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications Excellent writing and editing skills
MS degree or higher, with established record of authoring or co-authoring peer-reviewed publications and/or funding agency reports.
Field experience conducting research and/or monitoring of natural resources Physical Demands:
