The Woodlands Hospital a primary and secondary care hospital serving North Harris and Montgomery counties. Clinical services include cardiovascular services, diagnostic imaging, women's services (digital mammography and bone density studies), neurosciences, pediatric care (Newborn and Level II nurseries) and surgery, pathology and pulmonary services, and sleep disorders. Responsibilities

It takes a special type of nurse to work in surgery. Not only do they have to be skilled in the operating room, but they also have to maintain composure and manage a rollercoaster of emotions as the status of their patients could change in the blink of an eye. Most patients will never fully realize what their surgical nurse did for them during their most vulnerable moments, but we do. What you'll do:
  • Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
  • Care for patients before, during, and after procedures
  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
  • Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1 year of OR nursing e xperience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma
  • Bachelors in Nursing Preferred
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • BLS with skills demonstration


Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Effective Communication
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills of the nursing process to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Basic Computer skills - familiarity with Windows based software programs.

Preferred
  • Experience working in an acute care facility
