DESCRIPTION

Under general direction from the Executive Director and the Lifesharing Medical Director, the Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist will perform the surgical recovery of organs intended for transplant and/or research from deceased donors at all donor hospitals and recovery facilities in San Diego and Imperial Counties. The Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist will also have a lead role in placing organs on, and removing organs from mechanical preservation devices, in addition to managing cardiac bypass devices during normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) recoveries.Works collaboratively with, and functions as an adjunct to, all surgeons from the Lifesharing Recovery Surgeon Network. Coordinates the surgical recovery of organs with all visiting and local recovery surgeons. The Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist acts as an ambassador for Lifesharing with all local and visiting surgeons, as well as donor facility staff. The Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist will provided unbiased assessment and data regarding the quality of the organs recovered to transplant center staff. The Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist will participate in monthly quality review meetings with the Lifesharing leadership and medical director and will be a member of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC)The Organ Recovery Coordinator Specialist will provide 24-hour on call coverage and be available to arrive at donor facility to recover organs with a minimum 90 minutes notice when on call. Additional responsibilities may be assessed and assigned by the Lifesharing Medical Director and/or the Executive Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 5 Years of surgical/organ transplant training
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Documentation of 10 proctored multi-organ recoveries in the past 2 years
  • Documentation of 10 proctored ASTS certified surgeon/program
  • Letter from their current or immediate past transplant program detailing their experience and attesting to their qualification.
  • Experience in organ donor call.
  • Experience with and thorough knowledge of the clinical and operational implications of documentation requirements.
  • Knowledge of ambulatory care clinic practice management including patient care workflows and processes.
  • Thorough understanding of medicalterminology and specialized clinical knowledge of clinic practice area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of multi organ on call experience with organ offer, triage or donor call.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the medical field or three (3) years of experience in transplant/organ donation/OPO highly preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must carry professional, medical and hospital liability insurance for their professional services in the minimum amounts of $1,000,000.00 and $3,000,000.00.
  • In-state and out-of-state travel required several times per year.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
