Hiring range: $ 34.26- $45.83
The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates the hiring and training of personnel. Conducts performance evaluations and counsels employees in performance improvement. Resolves conflict among staff and investigates and initiates disciplinary actions, when appropriate. Coordinates employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Collaborates with the Directors and Providers to foster strong relationships with the coding team to develop necessary coding accuracy and required documentation.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors policies/procedures. Monitors and analyzes performance and productivity for coding/abstracting processes to assure quality standards that meets the goals of St. Mary's Healthcare.
  • Acts as a resource for the coding staff as well as serve as liaison for the medical staff to address coding related issues and questions, and provides training to staff as needed. Responsible for ensuring the timely education of the coding team regarding coding/abstracting changes in laws, regulations and policies requirements to ensure compliance. Provides necessary education to coders and providers.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding principles, CPT, E&M, Inj/Inf, governmental regulations, official coding guidelines, and third party requirements regarding documentation and billing.
  • Provides leadership for process improvement and redesign to improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs and/or meet departmental and organizational goals and objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Prepares statistical reports according to established policy/procedures.
  • Assists department leadership with preparation and monitoring of HIM budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Assists Patient Financial Services Department to resolve concerns.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree in related field preferred.
  • 3 years of related management experience, and a minimum of 3 years of E/M coding required.

Certifications / Licensure:
  • RHIA or RHIT, CCS, CIC, or CPC required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.
