For individuals with severe medical or physical diagnoses, pain management is crucial. Pain deeply affects a person's quality of life and emotional well-being. A great physician is a highly qualified professional and a compassionate individual, who can assist in managing chronic pain symptomology for children. You must be knowledgeable about diseases, epidemiology, and other medical conditions, so you can interpret symptoms and assess them. Pain management specialists prescribe proper medications and therapies to treat pain and provide relief to the child/youth's suffering related to their chronic medical, physical, or developmental condition. This management is not only an important part of humanely caring for the child's pain and suffering, but helping the youth and family in coping and preserving their quality of life at a difficult time.

Responsibilities:
  • As a Pain Management Provider, you will play a crucial role in helping patients manage their pain and improve their quality of life.
  • Provide comprehensive pain management services to patients.
  • Conduct patient consultations and assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage medication regimens for pain relief.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients on pain management techniques and self-care strategies.
  • Regularly update service plans, obtaining medical consenter signatures and ensuring plans reflect members' evolving needs.
  • Adhere to all documentation requirements, submitting progress notes, service plans, expense logs, and service provider logs in a timely manner.
  • Submit Progress Notes within 3 days of service provision, so that approval from supervisor is provided by the fifth business day following service provision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Pediatrician or
  • Family Medicine Physician (Board Certified in Pediatrics) or
  • Family Medicine Physician (Board Certified in Family Medicine) or
  • Nurse Practitioner (Certification in Pain Management; ACHPN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN-BC)
    • Under the direct supervision of a Pediatrician or Medical Physician (Board Certified in Pediatrics)

Required Experience:
  • Minimum three years of experience dealing with medically fragile populations AND
  • Minimum one year of clinical experience working with pediatric patients
    • Preferred: involving end-of-life care
  • Proficiency in various pain management techniques
    • Preferred: including interventional procedures and medication management
