JOB PURPOSE:

The primary role of Painter is to perform routine painting, wall covering and floor repairs or replacement. Assists with routine maintenance of the department. May perform preventative and/or corrective work orders. System responsibilities include completing work orders and preventative maintenance assignments, as well as responding to emergencies that arise. Additional responsibilities may include performing electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs. Responsible for taking on-call on a rotating basis to be available for emergencies when there is no on-site Plant Engineering coverage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs routine drywall and paint repairs including adjusts or replaces damaged hardware on structures, mounts or installs wall items. Repairs are in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Responsible for appropriate use of all tools and equipment.

Responsible for coordination of all work with Hospital supervision to minimize disruption to patients and staff.

Communicates existing and potential problems to coworker and supervisor. Including but not limited to advising of results of preventative maintenance measures, ensures that work orders are satisfied appropriately and documents all work performed.

Reads and interprets blue prints and schematic diagrams.

Performs preventative maintenance tasks. Ensures that preventative maintenance work orders are completed by due date and documents preventative maintenance work completed timely.

Performs basic electrical, plumbing and mechanical repairs, as assigned.

Completes projects as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Able to operate all mechanical and hand tools associated with the work.

Able to resolve problems.

Good working knowledge of proper paints, thinners and finishes.

Ability to apply proper paint and finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, frames and floors.

Ability to make proper repairs to sheetrock and other surfaces.

Ability to maintain on call status and shift rotation as required.

Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and schematics.

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Two years painting experience.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

None

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Georgia drivers license & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 criteria preferred. Experience working in a commercial or healthcare setting preferred. Technical school training or apprenticeship program preferred
