Painter Overview:

The Painter will be responsible for coating/painting the appropriate surface of structural steel pieces in accordance with SSPC specifications.

Painter Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Receives finished material from the shop, prepares surface for coating and sets up paint equipment to paint a maximum number of pieces in the most efficient manner.
• Gathers needed materials and specifications according to the applicable department prints.
• Loads finished pieces on trailers for shipping.
• Must be able to perform duties of a painter trainee.
• Responsible for adhering to all company safety and OSHA regulations.

• The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.

Painter Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years' commercial painting experience with basic knowledge of Structural Steel Fabrication operations.
• Must be able to understand paint codes.
• Must be familiar with paint equipment and different coatings.
• Should have some knowledge of how to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
• Must have airless experience.
• Experience using zinc and epoxy is required.
• Must be able to read a tape measure and work fractions.

Painter Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds frequently.
• Must be able to lift your whole bodyweight while climbing.
• Must be able to stand, bend, kneel often and walk for long periods.
• Must use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, and a dusty/noisy work environment.
